A Veteran's Health Crisis:
Nathan Ross Johnson, offender #965007, currently incarcerated at Lee State Prison, is fighting a critical battle, not just against the legal system but for his health. Following a 2004 car accident, Johnson, a Navy veteran, faced life-threatening deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms. Traditional medications failed him, leading him to cannabis, which he cultivated from 2016 until his arrest in 2019 for its therapeutic benefits.
Legal Battle and Medical Negligence:
Representing himself in court, Johnson argued his case based on extensive research and medical evidence, only to be convicted. Compounding his legal woes is a recent decision by the prisons' medical department, denying him a vibrating alarm watch necessary for managing his medication schedule, despite his serious health conditions.
Selective Prosecution and Legal Challenges:
Johnson's trial in the Superior Court of Hart County, N.E. Georgia, exposed issues of selective prosecution and the complexities of cannabis legislation. He faced charges under statutes that his research argued were misapplied, especially in light of medical cannabis benefits.
A Call for Empathy and Justice:
Johnson's story is more than a legal battle; it's a call for empathy and justice within the legal and medical systems. He represents many who turn to alternative medicine for relief but face legal challenges. His ongoing fight in prison highlights the need for a more compassionate approach to cases involving medical and personal freedoms.
Supporting Nathan Ross Johnson:
Contributions to Johnson's prison account at Lee State Prison, offender #965007, offer not only financial support but also a message of solidarity and care in his ongoing struggle for health and justice.

He was sentenced to five years for each charge, for a total of 10 years. The charges stemmed from a 2019 raid of a home outside Hartwell.
