About the Program
The GMCS Internship & Emerging Talent Program provides hands-on experience at the intersection of patient advocacy, public health, policy, research, and community organizing. Interns work alongside GMCS leadership and program staff on real projects that advance medical cannabis access and equity in Georgia.
We welcome undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals from fields including public health, social work, communications, political science, law, healthcare, and community development.
Areas of Experience
Patient Advocacy & Policy
Support legislative tracking, advocacy campaigns, and patient-facing policy education.
Research & Data
Assist with patient citizen-science initiatives, data collection, literature review, and research communications.
Communications & Media
Contribute to GMCS digital content, social media, newsletters, GMCS TV, and the Pressure Squad podcast.
Community Outreach
Support Seeds of Compassion, community forums, and outreach to underserved Georgia communities.
Program Operations
Help coordinate GMCS programs, events, workshops, and the 2HW Summit.
Leadership Development
GMCS interns receive mentorship from organizational leadership, access to GMCS educational programming, and opportunities to represent GMCS at community events and advocacy activities. We are committed to developing the next generation of cannabis equity leaders — particularly those from communities most impacted by cannabis prohibition and access barriers.

Jared Allen
Research & Advocacy Intern · 2025–Present
Jared Allen has served with GMCS since 2025 as a Research & Advocacy Intern, contributing to patient education, research, advocacy, community outreach, and research communications. In 2026, he graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy with a Master of Science in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics.

Devonere Alexander has served with GMCS since 2025 as part of the organization’s Internship & Emerging Talent program, supporting GMCS through education, outreach, operations, and emerging-talent development.
