Georgia medical cannabis policy is made in public — at General Assembly committee hearings, Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission meetings, and state agency proceedings. GMCS monitors these forums and helps patients participate. Attending or submitting written comments is one of the most direct ways to influence policy.
Types of Public Forums
General Assembly Committee Hearings
Senate and House committees hold hearings on medical cannabis bills during the legislative session (January–March). Patients may testify or submit written comments.

The Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission holds regular public meetings to address licensing, compliance, and program administration. Agendas are posted in advance.

GMCS hosts community health forums across Georgia where patients can learn, share experiences, and connect with advocates. These are not government hearings but are open to all.

Find the Hearing
Check this page, the Georgia General Assembly website, or the GAMC Commission site for upcoming hearings. GMCS also sends alerts to members.
Register to Speak
Most committee hearings require advance registration to testify in person. Contact the committee clerk or check the hearing notice for registration instructions.
Prepare Your Statement
Keep oral testimony to 2–3 minutes. Focus on your personal experience as a patient, caregiver, or supporter. Written statements can be longer and are entered into the record.
Submit Written Comments
If you cannot attend in person, written comments submitted before the hearing are equally valid. Email the committee clerk or use the agency's official comment portal.
Bring Support
Attend with other patients when possible. A room full of constituents sends a powerful message. Coordinate with the Pressure Squad to organize group attendance.
